About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting and empowering individuals to make choices to enrich their lives. This role is hands-on and people-focused, supporting individuals with daily living, personal care, and community engagement while always upholding dignity, respect, and participant choice.
You will build strong professional relationships with participants and their support networks, working collaboratively with a dedicated support team to deliver safe, high-quality supports. The role requires flexibility to respond to changing participant needs, a commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice, and the ability to balance routine tasks with meaningful engagement.

Key Responsiblities
- Relationship Building: Communicate with empathy and respect, with the demonstrated ability to adapt your approach to meet individual needs, and work collaboratively with families, carers, and team members.
- Personal Impact: Reflect on your practice, seek feedback, and manage your wellbeing to deliver effective support.
- Participant Support: Provide assistance with personal care, daily living skills, and community participation, empowering participants to make informed choices and live independently.
- Responsive Practice: Observe and respond to changing participant needs, follow safety protocols, and report incidents promptly.
- Service Quality & Safety: Uphold NDIS Quality Standards, OH&S regulations, and organisational policies to ensure safe, high-quality support.
- Administration: Maintain accurate documentation, attend staff meetings, and stay informed through organisational communication channels.
About You
- Compassionate, reliable, and motivated to support people with disability
- Strong communication skills, including awareness of body language
- Excellent time management, organisation, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Understanding of confidentiality and discretion in sensitive situations
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn
- Committed to ongoing training and professional development
- Willingness to undertake personal care supports(hygiene, eating, toileting) while respecting privacy and dignity
- Where applicable to the participant and where trained to do so, willingness to provide high-intensity supports including medication, catheter care, mobility assistance, mealtime management, and behaviour supports
Desirable:
- Formal qualifications in disability support services or equivalent
- Previous experience in disability support or community services
- Knowledge of NDIS standards and disability sector regulations
Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or eligibility and willingness to obtain)
- Working with Children Check (or eligibility and willingness to obtain)
- Current unrestricted Driver's License

Kyeema supports over 220 individuals and their families across the Glenelg Shire with One-on-One support 7 days a week in the community and at home, group based activities weekdays, after hours and weekends and employment support.
