Located at 40 Waratah Crescent, Portland Neighbourhood House (PNH) has been serving the local community since its inception in 1979. That's over 45 years of community development, adult learning, and providing a social hub for the people of Portland.
We are a not-for-profit community centre, offering social activities and services with a primary focus on social inclusion, mental health, and well-being. We help people connect to each other through community initiated activities, workshops and community development projects in the Glenelg Shire Region of Victoria.
PNH operates as a community program under Kyeema Support Services, allowing us to continue our mission to strengthen community connections and support vulnerable residents through innovative, responsive, and free to low-cost programming.
We joined the Kyeema team In late 2022 , allowing us to ensure we can continue serving the local community for many years to come.

What we offer
Portland Neighbourhood House offers a wide range of free to low-cost activities and services, including:

Outcomes
In 2024 we surveyed Portland Neighbourhood House users to gauge the efficacy of our programs.
Many respondents attributed an increase in their physical, social or emotional wellbeing, stronger social connections and support networks to their time at Portland Neighbourhood House.

Our co-ordinator can be contacted by phone or via email and is available from 10:00am to 4:00pm Mondays and Wednesdays, or 1:00pm to 4:00pm Tuesdays.
Our Supporters
We are deeply indebted to our sponsors and partners because great things happen when our community comes together with a shared vision. The support we receive throughout the year is a testament to that belief as our partners and sponsors have stepped forward to help us create something really special.
PNH is a free, volunteer run, community service which receives a small recurrent grant from the Victorian Government to cover the cost of the salary of the PNH coordinator plus some operational costs. Therefore we are reliant on individuals', sponsors' and partners' generosity to make Waratah fit for purpose. This will help us create programming which meets the growing demand for support of the community, especially in this time, with a cost of living crisis.
